Peer Groups for Leaders
in Not-For-Profit Organizations
Do you lead a not-for-profit organization?
Our organizations are truly mission oriented. How do I build these communal assets, without sacrificing personal security?
Not-for-profit leaders are assessed by a board and judged by donors. How do I speak truth to power?
In an unfinished, often broken world, our not-for-profit work never ends. How do I repair so many lives without jeopardizing my own well-being?
For Peers, Led by Peers
These are the questions we have faced, but we have not faced them alone. Since 2018, our first peer group has surrounded us with the professional insights — and human affection — of peers. Our second group launched in 2024.
To address the call for more seats around the table, we are opening additional groups.
We convene peer groups for leaders with executive authority in not-for-profit organizations.

“With depth and consciousness, my peers provide excellent support, knowing when to let the group process and when to gracefully move conversation forward. I always walk away with new nuggets of wisdom, challenged to deepen my self-awareness, and re-energized to do the hard work that leadership requires.”

“I have grown as a leader through my time in a peer group. The camaraderie, mentorship, professional development, collaboration, and support have been key to my own professional growth and thus the growth of Bridgeway Academy. Especially while working through the pandemic, my peer group has been a lifeline. They ask tough questions and are supportive and generous in their time and resources.”

My mission is to champion life worth living by modeling that life and strengthening people and organizations to disrupt ineffective systems and create meaningful change. As a 25-year nonprofit executive, I’ve spent my entire career advocating for the underdog and striving to relieve suffering of all kinds. Here’s what I’ve learned: We need to take care of ourselves, and we need to take care of each other.”

The Advantageist
“The candid care and challenge of peers has prevented me from becoming isolated in my own enterprises. I stand for words well chosen, attention to now, and old-fashioned encouragement. And I have seen the results of peer-to-peer influence: stronger decision making, greater empathy, less needless suffering.”

- are earnest, but don’t take themselves too seriously
- confront their peers kindly
- play the big game — are willing to bring their biggest challenges
- can engage — show up on time, focus (no cell phones), lean in
- are experienced enough to know they need to change — and energetic enough to do it.
