Thumb_welcome82The Reunion of the Yale Class of 1982 was among the most positive, most redemptive, most loving experiences of my life.

I was completely embraced by a community of extraordinary people — a group I last saw in 1982, when I was so unformed, still so unready to engage with them.

After 25 years, it's completely different.
I have become able to enjoy their intellectual and emotional temptations in our New Haven Garden of Eden.

Img_2000I've just returned from the weekend. As a nearly completely formed adult today, I wrote this love letter to them after the weekend.
[Earlier, I'd written them a letter of invitation, asking them to attend the Reunion. That letter was based on this November 2006 blog post.]

[Later, the love letter was reprinted in the Yale Alumni Magazine.]
