Thanks again for your kindness when Our Town was produced in Bexley this past summer.
I am so tickled — downright thrilled — by the generous reception for the production. The experience exceeded every hope I had, and surpassed expectations I didn’t even know I could have.
Many people have asked me: "What’s next?"
Here’s a glimpse of what’s next.
What’s Next
- Available Light [Theatre] (who produced Our Town so professionally) has decided to incorporate and file with the IRS for tax-exempt status. I’m helping form a board of directors.
- Time and a Few Words is running now and closes this coming weekend. It’s an original Available Light production. Our Town was an oddly traditional presentation for Available Light. Time and a Few Words is more usual for Available Light: provocative, inspiring, challenging, and new to Columbus. The first shows have been great. Please don’t miss this original production. For show information to buy tickets (at Available Light’s always fair price of "whatever you want to pay") please visit the Available Light website, www.avltheatre.com.
- Do you know Arnett Howard, the beloved and talented trumpeter, educator and frontman for his Arnett Howard and Friends? Arnett and I are planning to be The Odd Couple in April 2009, in the Neil Simon classic, produced by Available Light. More on that later as plans develop.
Here’s a truly strange and wonderful invitation.
Called "Theatrical Training For Your Holidays," Available Light’s artistic director Matt Slaybaugh will offer two hours of fundamental theatrical training this November.
After quick lessons on the Alexander Technique and Viewpointing, you will be ever more prepared to observe, enjoy and participate the improvisational non-theatre that comes to your life during the Thanksgiving and year-end holidays.
Do the holidays sometime leave you speechless, as if you are flying in a blur? Come to "Theatrical Training For Your Holidays" and you will be trained to digest the meaning of it all as the holidays unfold in your home and at your office party.
Please reply to Matt Slaybaugh, so we know that you are interested. No theatrical experience necessary.
(We are charging the low, low price of $0 because of your support and encouragement.)
Thanks so many times over for that support and encouragement.
